The Centro de Capoeira São Salomão, recognized by the Ministry of Culture in 2009 as a point of culture, was founded on June 28, 1997. It is a non-profit, private-law cultural entity that was created with the aim of being a space for cultivation of traditional Capoeira, specifically with regard to the maintenance and use of their knowledge and practices as an educational and assistance possibility. As a Capoeira school, it works through the collaboration of its associates and partners. It houses several sociocultural projects, including: Caxinguelês, Cine Mandinga, É Cor de Rosa Choque and the Caxinguelês Jovem. All are initiatives included in the perspective of safeguarding Capoeira as an intangible Cultural Heritage.
