On January 27, 2006, Tiago de Camargo (Mestre Formiga) and his students founded the INSTITUTO BRASILEIRO ESPORTE, CULTURA E ARTE - CAPOEIRA IBECA (Brazilian Institute for Sport, Culture and Art) in Campinas - SP - Brazil. The starting shot was fired during the first “Retiro da Capoeira” in the presence of great personalities in the world of Capoeira, such as the group's advisor, Mestre Mauricio, and other masters such as: Mestre Cícero, Mestre Mauro Gomes, Mestre Kito and Mestre Paranhos. Other masters, teachers, students and friends of Mestre Formiga were also present. The INSTITUTO BRASILEIRO ESPORTE, CULTURA E ARTE - CAPOEIRA IBECA is a spin-off of the Grupo Senzala, of which Mestre Formiga was a member for 12 years. On the basis of the teachings of the masters of the Grupo Senzala and other masters, Mestre Formiga founded his own group.
