The founders of Mundo Capoeira Ireland, Mestre Sansão Maia and Daniela Quaresima, Graduada Smurfette, established the group in 2001, as the first official Capoeira school in Ireland. Later on, the team was joined in by Irish Graduada Arcoiris & Graduado Jesus.
