Aldeia Capoeira is a capoeira group that was founded in 2001 by Mestre Araminho and students.
The name Aldeia actually means settlement. It's a word used to describe the smaller villages in Brazil.
The name was chosen because when the group was founded it was of a way smaller size than the biggest capoeira groups of the world.
Aldeia is also an acronym for the words: Arte (Art), Luta (Fight), Dança (Dance), Esporte (Sport) Instrumento (Instruments), Alegria (Joy)
Words that describe capoeira since they are all part of it. The capoeira style of Aldeia is a mixture of different influences. The founder Mestre Araminho has been part of the big capoeira groups Senzala and Abadá for years. These groups have left their mark on the style of this group.
