Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that has its roots in the combat methods and dances of African peoples from the time of slavery in B resil.
It is distinguished from other martial arts by its playful and often acrobatic side. The feet are very widely used during the fight although other parts of the body can be used such as, mainly, the hands, the head, the knees and the elbows.
The "players" can take position in support or balance on the hands to perform kicks or acrobatics.
In various forms, capoeira is played and / or wrestled at different levels of the ground and at different speeds, most often accompanied by instruments, songs and hand claps.
